ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Renters in every capital city worse off as affordability hits record lows | ABC News” – below is their description.
Rental affordability across Australia has plunged to all-time lows with 1.3 million Australian households now in need of assistance to keep a roof over their heads.
The Rental Affordability Index by non-government organisation, National Shelter, reveals the cost of renting is rising faster than wage growth in almost every capital city.
Sydney, Hobart and Brisbane now top the list as the least affordable capital cities, eating up close to 30 per cent of the average renter’s income.
