Racism surging in Germany: Government to launch study probing racism among police

Protests against racism and police brutality have erupted across the world after George Floyd’s death on May 25th. Racial violence is now under the spotlight in Germany, where the government is going to launch a study probing racism among the police. Report by Anne Maillet and Nick Spicer.

Video recording by a witness, showing Floyd repeating “Please”, “I can’t breathe”, and “Don’t kill me”, was widely circulated on social media platforms and broadcast by media. The incident led to widespread protests across the United States.
