House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer spoke Wednesday at a League of Conservation Voters news conference to vow action on climate change.

We are “surrounded by evidence of the climate crisis, the fires out west, the heat waves, the floods, everywhere you look because of global warming things are getting worse and worse,” Schumer said. He added that COVID “was horrible” but if nothing is done on the climate “each year will be worse than COVID.”

Schumer said he “won’t pass any infrastructure package that doesn’t reduce carbon pollution at a scale commensurate with the urgency of the climate crisis we face.”
