The NSW premier has reneged on a handshake deal over stadium upgrades in Sydney, says the boss of rugby league in Australia Peter V’landys.
The NRL is considering their options after Perrottet’s decision to withdraw $250 million in funding that V’landys believed was being used to refurbish venues, including Brookvale Oval, Leichhardt Oval and Cronulla’s Shark Park.
The Australian Rugby League Commission is considering moving this year’s NRL grand final away from New South Wales over the stadium funding issues.
“This was the fifth excuse that they’ve given as to why they’re not honouring the agreement. To use the human tragedy of the floods, to wessel your way out, and spend your way out of a commitment takes it to another level. It’s complete spin. They’ve got money. They’ve allocated this money. This money was allocated three years ago” – Peter V’landys – Australian Rugby League Commission.
