Nissan workers in US vote on union representation

Workers at Nissan’s assembly plant in Mississippi are voting on whether to be represented by a union. It is the culmination of a 14-year-long battle for labour organisation at the plant.

Many multinational corporations have moved their operations to southern US to keep wages low.

And Nissan has been fighting the union drive with an intensity that some workers say may have broken the law.

Al Jazeera’s Shihab Rattansi reports from Canton, Mississippi.
