Nepal is campaigning to clean up the Himalayas.
Its military has been leading community efforts to improve conditions on Mount Everest, and has so far collected nearly 35 tonnes of waste.
The campaign was launched with various non-governmental agencies and the private sector, and garbage was retrieved from Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga and Manaslu.
The teams are celebrating both the end of their campaign and World Environment Day.
But they hope their campaign will also draw the world’s attention to global warming and its effect on Nepal’s fragile mountain ecosystems and communities.
