Global News published this video item, entitled “Nearly half of Canadians ignored pubic health advice on gatherings during holiday season, poll shows” – below is their description.
Despite the warnings from government leaders and health officials, it seems many Canadians chose to ignore the advice and had some contact with people outside their households over the holidays.
Ipsos polling exclusively for Global News finds 48 per cent of those surveyed had some kind of in-person contact with someone from outside our households over the holidays.
Of those who did, 61 per cent say they gathered inside and didn’t wear masks.
Several Canadian provinces have been dealing with a high increase of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the last couple of weeks, including Quebec, who imposed a night curfew to combat the spread of the virus, and Ontario, which has been under lockdown since Boxing Day.
