South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Muslim mason sculpts shrines to honour Hindu dead in Bangladesh” – below is their description.
Minority Hindus in Bangladesh have endured decades of violence and persecution, but one Muslim mason has been honouring the community’s dead by sculpting shrines. Since he started working in the trade 35 years ago, Taher Ali Khan has crafted thousands of shrines at Barisal Mahashashan, the country’s largest Hindu crematory. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured Hindus that their lives and property will be protected. But such efforts have so far only triggered resentment among many Muslims, and thousands of attacks targeting the Hindu community have been reported since 2013.
