A Minnesota National Guard soldier took a knee to address protesters outside the Capitol in St. Paul.
Lt. Col. Sam Andrews, the Deputy Operations Officer for the Minnesota National Guard, was announcing soldiers would be inside the Capitol until curfew. He told protesters he was sorry for the loss of George Floyd and that: “My heart hurts as a human being”
He then asked that they peacefully assembly and respect their property. He said they would respect their rights to assemble and “speak the First Amendment.”
Before he walked off, he hugged a few of the protesters.
