  1. Why do you continue to treat Kevin Saunders as some sort of senior commentator?

When referred to as “the Chief Immigration Officer”, he sounds important and involved in senior matters. He was not.

Chief Immigration Officer (CIO) is a grade equivalent to Higher Executive Officer in the Civil Service. That is one step above the Officer who swipes your passport.

The role is equivalent to a police sergeant and there would usually be 4 or 5 CIO’s on duty at Calais every shift.

Every time you interview him, it’s like asking a retired police sergeant for his canteen-talk opinions, while telling your viewer he is a retired Assistant Chief Constable.
