  1. There is no labor shortages! Everyone i know is more than willing to work the Hoot! The employer orders the labor! The local Union mans the orders!

  2. If port workers are not willing to work, then how come the terminals are full of cargo? A third shift that the union has been pushing to keep open for the last 8 years, and was cut off by the shipping companies and continues to be manipulated politically as a resolution to the problem is insane! The pandemic has turned these companies into highway robbers, using labor as the scapegoat, with the hope of automating more terminals and cheating the taxpayers out of what they are due. They are foreign interests that do not pay taxes here, and since these foreign interests cannot legally own a terminal here, they choose to decimate our economy at every opportunity, profiting from 5 times to more than 12 times their normal margins. Any excuse to continue to funnel dollars to their own failing economies! Don’t fall for it! It is completely artificially manipulating our GDP as a whole! The shipping companies have ensured that this “tragedy” is front page news and made sure that labor is not a stakeholder at the table that providing the solution, and instead is continuing negotiating their contract to preserve jobs and the local economy . These ports are the warehouses for every major retailer in North America. THINK ABOUT IT LOGICALLY AND RATIONALLY!

  3. Of course you are backed up, you are not working the third shift. This is just ignorant! You complain about ships backed up in the port, yet you don’t allow the work force every opportunity to catch up. You’re leaving a third of your time empty with no work. Time that could be used to get the job done. You’re stupid

  4. We have worked hard in moving cargo always have but congestion off ship is not out fault there is no room in port all yards are full and chassis are all in use either on cans on wheels in port or at BNSF or ICTF and UP the rail yards have everything on wheels why can they stack some cargo over there and free some chassis up anyways theirs no blame gane here its also the companies that this can belongs to are not picking up their cargo they have been charged late fees cause they don’t have workers at their companies cause everyone still out afraid they will get sick so stop giving money like stimulus checks to people so they have to go back to work and move cargo it shows on record that we have move and Willing to move whatever it takes …my way of thinking just a visual opinion…thanks

  5. I am a longshore worker on the West Coast and I work the night shift 6PM-3AM, sometimes I work an extra 2 hour to 5AM if the ship is finishing to set set sail. The day shift starts at 5AM and goes thru to 5PM or late to 7AM…where do you get your information? That’s 24/7 to me!!!

  6. Ryan Peterson is lying or ignorant. Port workers want the third shift to open. The waterfront employers have not made that happen. They have the rights and ability to hire port workers on the third shift but choose not to. Port workers have worked through the pandemic and are very willing to continue to work. We have not gotten more money or benefits where as the shipping companies and waterfront employers have made millions.
