Liz Truss has became Britain’s next prime minister after meeting with Queen Elizabeth II, who asked her to form a new government.
Truss, 47, took office on Tuesday in the carefully choreographed ceremony with the monarch a day after the ruling Conservative Party announced that Truss was elected as its leader.
Truss has delivered her first speech after being appointed as the UK’s new PM.
Speaking outside Number 10 Downing Street, Ms Truss said she was “honoured” to “take on this responsibility at a vital time for our country”.
Ms. Truss said she would focus on three priorities: the economy, the energy crisis facing the country and improving the National Health Service (NSH).
Liz Truss also paid tribute to her Conservative party predecessor, Boris Johnson.
