The Qiantang River in east China’s Zhejiang Province is known as the world’s largest tidal bore. The trumpet-shaped river mouth connects with the East China Sea and causes gigantic tides as high as nine meters. Every year on the eighth month of the lunar calendar, people gather along the river banks to witness the impressive sight.
