Global News published this video item, entitled “Lava continues to spew out of Icelandic volcano after eruption” – below is their description.
Lava, on Saturday, continued to pour from a volcano that erupted southwest of Iceland’s capital Reykjavik.
The eruption occurred Friday evening near Fagradalsfjall mountain in the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 30 kilometres from the capital.
It was the first eruption on the peninsula since the 12th century and followed tens of thousands of small earthquakes in recent weeks.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) said the volcanic eruption posed no immediate danger to the immediate town of Grindavik or to critical infrastructure.
The eruption is also not expected to unleash much ash or smoke into the atmosphere, unlike an eruption in 2010 that halted approximately 900,000 flights and forced hundreds of Icelanders from their homes.
