Global News published this video item, entitled “King’s Christmas message: Charles reflects on loss of his mother, queen Elizabeth” – below is their description.
During his first Christmas address to his subjects since ascending the throne, King Charles III reflected on the loss of his mother queen Elizabeth II and his father Prince Phillip, and thanked the public for the “deeply touching” messages his family received in the wake of the queen’s death.
The King remarked on the “selfless dedication” of the armed forces, emergency services, teachers, as well as health and social care workers. He said he shares with his late mother the belief in each person’s ability to “touch with goodness and compassion the lives of others.”
In his address, Charles also briefly commented on conflicts taking place in other parts of the world and reached out to those who practice religions other than Christianity, saying that the “power of light over darkness” crosses “the boundaries of faith and belief.”
