Calls are growing for an investigation of alleged abuse at every residential school in Canada, following news of the Manitoba RCMP’s decade-long investigation into crimes committed at just one former institution.
The Truth and Reconcilliation Commission believes an estimated 5,000 people committed child abuse crimes at residential schools, some of whom are now dead. Fewer than 50 have been charged. Mike Le Couteur reports on the demands for justice from Indigenous leaders.
