India’s space agency, ISRO, has successfully deployed its first solar mission, Aditya-L1, to a point between the Earth and the sun on Saturday. The spacecraft was launched in September 2023 and reached its destination within the anticipated four-month timeframe.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the efforts of the scientists and said in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that “India creates yet another landmark. It is a testament to the relentless dedication of our scientists in realizing among the most complex and intricate space missions.”

India’s Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh said on Saturday the Aditya-L 1 “is going to discover the mysteries of the sun.”
