For more:
Indian security forces fired tear gas on June 17 to disperse mobs in the country’s northeastern state of Manipur, where rival ethnic groups have been clashing for over a month. The state has been roiled by violence since May after members of the Kuki tribe clashed with the majority Meiti ethnic community over its demands for special economic benefits. At least 100 people have been killed in the clashes, thousands of homes have been burned, and shops and businesses vandalized.
