The UK has experienced its lowest temperature for a decade with parts of Trafalgar Square’s fountain freezing over. With sub-zero temperatures persisting over much of the UK, a temperature of minus-16.7 Celsius was recorded in the small hamlet of Altnaharra in the Scottish Highlands.
