The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “‘I don’t support a 6pm curfew for men’: Minister on women’s safety after Sarah Everard case” – below is their description.
Universities Minister Michelle Donelan has told Nick Ferrari women “should be able to walk on the streets and feel safe”, but does not support a curfew restricting the freedom of men or women, as Green Party’s Baroness Jones suggested to the House of Lords recently.
The minister said the government is “listening” to the “outpouring” of stories coming in on social media of women feeling unsafe on Britain’s streets.
While crime on the streets is “exceptionally rare”, “we should all be able to walk on the streets and feel safe”, Ms Donelan says. “We need to be careful we don’t get into a blame game against men”.
Sarah Everard, 33, vanished after leaving a friend’s house in Clapham on March 3. Following the arrest of a police officer on suspicion of Ms Everard’s kidnap and murder, many women have taken to social media to recount stories of feeling unsafe on Britain’s streets.
