A black bear unexpectedly stormed into a family picnic in northern Mexico’s Chipinque Ecological Park on September 25, 2023. The Mexican state of Nuevo Leon has set aside 177,395 hectares (685 sq miles) of park as a protected natural area, recognised as the natural habitat for the endangered black bear in Mexico. One family member said that it was their first close encounter with a bear and recommended not to bring food into the park.
