DW News published this video item, entitled “How your jeans deplete groundwater in Bangladesh | DW News” – below is their description.
A DW analysis has found that the thirst for cheap clothing from Bangladesh is depleting ground water levels in the country. Clothing manufacture requires huge quantities of water, which many firms are sourcing from the groundwater table. The practice has severely depleted water levels over a decade, with serious impact on the environment and farmers.
For more on this, we speak to DW correspondent Zobaer Ahmed who filed the report.
