International reactions to Hamas’ terrorist attack in Israel, and the Israeli aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip, have shown the wildly differing views of the conflict around the world.
In Indonesia, hundreds of members of different Islamic groups gathered outside the US embassy in Jakarta to protest the staunch support Israel is getting from the US, demanding an end to the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. On the streets of Dhaka in Bangladesh around a thousand members of an Islamist group chanted slogans for the Palestinians. There’ve also been pro-Palestinian demonstrations by religious groups in Pakistan.

The old town, Kota Tua, is home to Dutch colonial buildings, Glodok (Jakarta’s Chinatown) and the old port of Sunda Kelapa, where traditional wooden schooners dock.
Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in South Asia. It has a population exceeding 212.2 million, including the world’s second-largest Muslim population. It has an area of 881,913 square kilometres (340,509 square miles).
Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre (650-mile) coastline along the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest, and China to the northeast. It is separated narrowly from Tajikistan by Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor in the northwest, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.
