7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “Health Minister Yvette D’Ath addresses recruitment and healthcare shortages in Queensland | 7NEWS” – below is their description.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath MP said the current investment in the Gold Coast hospitals and healthcare system recruitment is one of many projects and there has already been many beds brought online to address the hospital bed shortage.
“The challenge is this – anyone who says the beds are the only fix don’t understand the complexities around pressures on the health system,” said D’Ath.
“The demand is outstripping what we need to do in our hospitals.”
D’Ath addressed that shortages are specific to certain areas of healthcare varying across different areas of Queensland.
In relation to healthcare recruitment, D’Ath said the government is working on how to attract and maintain doctors in regional areas of Queensland with accommodation and incentives such as travel for home visits.
