We begin with troubling new signs of vaccine nationalism and potential problems with our vaccine supply. As an increasing number of countries grapple with the rise of new variants, country’s that produce COVID-19 vaccines are moving to limit exports. They want to ensure their own citizens get the vaccine first and that leaves Canada vulnerable. We’re completely reliant on other country’s including India. Canada is expecting 1.5 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from India in the next two months. According to Reuters News, India has decided to temporarily halt all major vaccine exports. The European Union, also a major exporter to Canada is also tightening its export rules. All of this leads to uncertainty about our vaccine supply in the weeks ahead. Abigail Bimman has more.
