Global National: Dec. 17, 2022 | Strep A infections increasing as Montreal reports 2 deaths

Global News published this video item, entitled “Global National: Dec. 17, 2022 | Strep A infections increasing as Montreal reports 2 deaths” – below is their description.

Two children under two years old have died in Montreal from invasive Strep A infections, a common and relatively minor bacteria found in the throat and on skin that can cause fever or a throat infection.

It’s rarely invasive but when it is, it can be dangerous and spread quickly. Mike Drolet looks at what signs parents should look for.

Hundreds of people, including a who’s-who of Canadian politicians, attended the funeral for long-time Winnipeg MP Jim Carr. He died earlier this week from cancer.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as past and present cabinet ministers, and even political opponents all attended to pay their respects. As Teagan Rasche reports, the service was precisely what Carr wanted.

Amanda Jelowicki reports on Quebec’s coroner investigation of the death of a woman who passed away last month, two weeks after having plastic surgery. It’s unclear why it happened but the incident is raising questions about the safety of complicated surgeries in private clinics.

As the U.S. enters a hectic holiday travel season, transportation safety officials there are on high alert for passengers trying to get their guns through airport security, sometimes loaded.

A record number of weapons have already been seized this year. And as Jennifer Johnson reports, some have been found in the most unusual places.

Plus, Kyle Benning looks at how one company is expanding fueling options as electric vehicles are changing the way we drive, and how it could change the services you get at your local gas station.
