Global Food and Funding Crisis | SDG Media Zone at the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly

United Nations published this video item, entitled “Global Food and Funding Crisis | SDG Media Zone at the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly” – below is their description.

Conflict, economic shocks, climate extremes and soaring prices are combining to create a food crisis of unprecedented proportions. As many as 345 million people are facing food insecurity while 45 million children under 5 years of age suffer from acute malnutrition globally. The number of people facing food insecurity continues to increase at a pace that funding is unlikely to match. We have a choice: act now to save lives and invest in solutions that secure food security, stability and peace for all, or see people around the world facing rising hunger. In this session, we will hear from the World Food Programme on the challenges and solutions to addressing the global food and funding crisis.

Speakers:

Carl Skau, Deputy Executive Director, WFP

Moderator: Ian Philips, Director, News and Media, Department of Global Communications
