A memorial for George Floyd has been held in Minneapolis.
Civil rights activists, politicians and celebrities joined Floyd’s family to pay their respects to the man whose death at the hands of police sparked worldwide protests.
Crowds of people thronged the streets around North Central University, where the service was held, chanting: “George Floyd”.
After days of unrest, it was a message of hope that filled the city on Thursday. Those who gathered outside the university’s Worship Centre played music, waved bouquets of flowers, and handed out food.
