The French Prime Minister has declared that “no violence will go unpunished” – after the home of a mayor in the Paris suburbs was attacked during the night, while his family were asleep inside.
Rioters tried to set fire to the house, before hurling firework rockets at his wife and two small children as they fled. President Macron is meeting his top security officials tonight, as ministers pledged to restore order as soon as possible.
