An armed gang stormed the studio of a major television station in Ecuador on Tuesday, waving pistols, machine guns and sticks of dynamite. The gunmen burst into the headquarters of the TC Televisión network in Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil. Ecuador’s police deployed to the station eventually recapturing the building.

The storming of the station comes amid a spate of organised nationwide attacks by criminal groups across Ecuador. On Monday, the country’s new president, Daniel Noboa, declared a state of emergency following the escape of the country’s most dangerous gang leader
