Floods lead to state of emergency and evacuations in Canada

One of Canada’s largest cities, Montreal, has declared a state of emergency to cope with rising floodwaters along rivers swollen by torrential spring rains.

More than 1,500 homes have already been evacuated, and more than 1,600 soldiers have been deployed to help with relief efforts in Montreal and elsewhere in the Quebec province.

Al Jazeera’s Daniel Lak reports.
