In an Australian first, elder abuse is set to be criminalised in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Laws creating new, specific, offences around elder abuse were introduced to the Territory’s Legislative Assembly today.
But some lawyers are concerned the reforms could have unexpected consequences – even making elder abuse harder to prosecute.
