Despite the lengthy meeting, Trump’s testimony did not fruitful for New York investigators – the former president vowed to plead the Fifth, the right to remain silent, before it began. Trump attorney Ronald Fischetti, who was present in the meeting, told the New York Times that Trump answered exactly one question throughout the duration of the meeting – what his name was. Trump read a statement ‘the greatest witch hunt in the history of our country’ and said as James sat across from him that she ‘openly campaigned on a policy of destroying me.’
