Doha: Sudan reaches agreement with leading Darfur rebel group

Sudan has reached an agreement with one of the main rebel groups in the Darfur conflict – a major development in the effort to restore peace to the region.

The deal between the government and the Sudan Liberation Movement was brokered by the governments of Qatar and Chad, and was signed in Doha.
