The second Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) kicked off in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province in eastern China, on November 23, 2023. Covering an extensive area of 100,000 square meters, the expo comprises one comprehensive pavilion, two special pavilions, and four digital industry pavilions. Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, currently serving as the president of the Shanghai-headquartered New Development Bank (NDB), was among the distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony. She took a tour of the expo, visiting several booths, including those of Chinese tech giants Alibaba and iFlytek. “This fair signifies a moment of openness for this immense economy – the Chinese economy – showcasing all its power and vigor. It clearly reflects China’s potential to emerge as the world’s leading economy by 2030,” Rousseff said, sharing her impressions of the expo in an interview with CGTN.
