Italy remains in lockdown as the country attempts to control the coronavirus outbreak that has affected thousands.

Experts agree that the spread of Covid-19 in Italy has followed similar patterns to that shown in China and other nations where the outbreak has taken hold – up to a point – but that social distancing began too late.
The WHO has praised the aggressive responses shown in South Korea and Singapore, which have proved successful at arresting the spread of the virus.
China is the third largest country in the world by area and the largest country in the world by population. Properly known as the People’s Republic of China, the political territory of the country includes Tibet and Hong Kong. The capital is Beijing.
Covid-19 is the official WHO name given to the novel coronavirus which broke out in late 2019 and began to spread in the early months of 2020.
