The World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus held a press conference Monday to provide an update on the global pandemic. Cases around the world are over 43 million, with 1.15 million deaths and nearly 30 million recoveries. With many countries facing high uptick of cases as winter approaches, the WHO urged governments to take stronger actions to curb the spread of the virus. “We urge leaders to take immediate action, to prevent further unnecessary deaths, essential health services from collapsing and schools shutting again,” the director-general said.
