Global News published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus: Saskatchewan redeploying 600 health-care staff to support COVID-19 surge | FULL” – below is their description.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority’s chief of its emergency operation centre Derek Miller on Thursday outlined the different services that may see impacts in the coming weeks as the province redeploys 600 health-care workers to help with the surging level of COVID-19 cases.
He made the comments alongside other members of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, including CEO Scott Livingstone, and the province’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Saqib Shahab, during a COVID-19 briefing.
Miller also said the province would be creating space for up to 250 COVID-19 patients by mid-December and creating enough space for up to 64 additional COVID-19 patients in intensive care units. He said this was due to modelling information showing the potential for more than 500 lab-confirmed cases daily in a two-week timeline.
