Treating the weekend before new coronavirus restrictions come into force as an excuse to party would be “incredibly irresponsible”, the Police Federation have warned – ahead of the new rules limiting social gatherings to six people in England, Scotland and Wales. Across the UK, another 3.497 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. But there has been some encouraging news – Oxford University has resumed covid vaccine trials after they were paused when a volunteer became ill.
