Coronavirus: Brazilians protest potentially mandatory Chinese COVID-19 vaccine

Global News published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus: Brazilians protest potentially mandatory Chinese COVID-19 vaccine” – below is their description.

Hundreds of Brazilians gathered in São Paulo on Sunday to protest the state government’s plans to make a Chinese coronavirus vaccine mandatory. People held signs reading “We aren’t guinea pigs” and “My body belongs to me,” in opposition to Gov. João Doria’s plans to start vaccinating people in January if China’s Sinovac vaccine receives regulatory approval by the end of the year. Vaccine policy has led to a simmering debate between Doria and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who has said the government would not buy the specific COVID-19 vaccine in question. Sao Paulo’s biomedical research centre, the Butantan Institute, is currently testing the vaccine. Guinea is a country in West Africa, bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Formerly known as French Guinea (French: Guinée française), the modern country is sometimes referred to as Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from other countries with “Guinea” in the name.

It’s known for the Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, in the southeast. The reserve protects a forested mountain range rich in native plants and animals, including chimpanzees and the viviparous toad. On the coast, the capital city, Conakry, is home to the modern Grand Mosque and the National Museum.
