Global News published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus: 30 per cent of Canadian snowbirds heading to US for winter amid pandemic” – below is their description.
The Canadian Snowbird Association estimates almost a third of its members are still heading south to the U.S. for the winter months despite the Canadian government continuing to advise against non-essential travel outside of Canada. One of the association’s board members says if a snowbird is “determined to go” to make sure to have health insurance that covers COVID-19, as some companies are withholding coverage during coronavirus travel advisories. The U.S. continues to be the country with the most coronavirus cases in the world — more than 12 million — and in the popular snowbird destination of Florida alone, more than 18,000 people have died of COVID-19.
