The COP28 in the United Arab Emirates has brought the international community together at a critical moment for global transformative climate action. At such a juncture, the world also has to listen to what indigenous people have to say about nature and draw upon their ancient wisdom to “rebuild harmony and maintain balance.” This is what Bolivian Vice President David Choquehuanca Céspedes told Wang Guan in this edition of The Hub in Dubai, where he was attending the COP28. Choquehuanca Céspedes proposes “Gaia-politics” and underlines the importance of valuing one’s own cultural roots. He also pins his hopes on China-Bolivia’s potential for cooperation, as both countries are highly complementary, and reckons that China’s role is “pivotal” for mankind.
