    People in the Philippines are marking the 500th anniversary of a battle that changed indigenous people’s history forever.

    It was the start of evangelisation, the move to Christianity. Now, the Philippines has the third-largest Catholic population in the world after Brazil and Mexico.

    Al Jazeera’s Jamela Alindogan reports from Cebu in Central Philippines, where the main celebrations have been held.
