On Dec. 30th, 1940, Yan’an Xinhua Radio Station started broadcasting in Wangpiwan village in Yan’an, Northwest China. In September 1947, Yan’an Xinhua Radio Station launched its first English program. It moved to Beijing in March 1949 and became a national radio after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
