Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Changes to climate cause ongoing floods in Southern India” – below is their description.
The lashing rains in India’s Kerala state brought landslides that led to the deaths of 46 people in October.
Now environmentalists are linking the state’s extreme weather to the Western Ghat’s ecology, which they say climate change has altered.
But illegal mining and construction on the protected mountain range may also be adding to the area’s worsening climate effects.
Al Jazeera’s Elizabeth Puranam reports from Kerala, India.
