Global News published this video item, entitled “CFL delays 2021 season start due to COVID-19” – below is their description.
The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced Wednesday it would delay the start of its 2021 season until Aug. 5, as the country continues to grapple with a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The league will also reduce the number of games played to just 14 per team after cancelling the entire ’20 season due to the pandemic.
Delaying the ’21 season allows for more Canadians to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations and increases chances of fans being allowed in the stands once football resumes. Taylor Shire has more.
