7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “Car erupts into flames after crash in Surry Hills and hitting pedestrian | 7NEWS” – below is their description.

A 33-year-old man is fighting for life in hospital after a dramatic hit and run in Surry Hills. After striking the pedestrian, the driver crashed into another car and then fled the scene as flames erupted from the vehicle.

Wentworth Avenue residents woke to the sound of what they describe as an explosion around 11:30pm. Flames could be seen shooting high in the air and along on the road, as petrol created a wall of fire on the busy Surry Hills strip.

The driver allegedly mowed down a pedestrian at the Oxford Street crossing just metres away.
