Canadian health officials are expected to provide an update on the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday.
On Wednesday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that cases are continuing to decline globally and that weekly death rates from COVID-19 are at their lowest point since March 2020.
He adds, however, that “South African scientists who identified Omicron late last year, have now reported two more Omicron sub-variants. BA.4 and BA.5 are the reason for a spike in cases in South Africa.”
Canadian hospitals have seen a spike in the number of youth hospitalized for eating disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic, new data from the Canadian Institute for Health Research revealed.
The numbers released on Thursday show that girls aged 10 to 17 with eating disorders were hospitalized nearly 60 per cent more following the onset of the pandemic.
