7NEWS Australia published this video item, entitled “‘Butt out: Port Adelaide’s David Koch hits out over criticism of players in prison bars | 7NEWS” – below is their description.
“They have nothing to do with the game, not even in the same state as where the guernsey would be used, have never lived in this state, don’t understand the history, coming from a position of ignorance and arrogance and my message is ‘butt out’,” – Port Adelaide Football Club chairman David Koch on critics of Port’s determination to honour its heritage.
Port Adelaide was refused permission to wear its heritage strip during last night’s Showdown after Collingwood complained, but the AFL has confirmed it has no issues with the players donning the bars for the club song.
“This is a special purpose guernsey to celebrate the history of South Australian football during Showdowns, simple as that, full stop. I’d sign an agreement tomorrow that just limits it to Showdowns and that’s all we want.”
