The Brisbane City Council Opposition is calling for the reinstatement of kerbside collections, which have now been on hold for one year due to the pandemic.

Councillor Jared Cassidy says that the suspension of the service has led to an increase in illegal dumping across the city, despite the Council issuing waste vouchers to residents as compensation.

“Residents have already paid for kerbside collection through their rates. Not only did they not see a discount on their rates for not getting this service, they’ve been stung with a double rates increase this financial year.”
